Car, ute, truck and equipment finance for ABN holders without full financials or up-to-date tax returns. A Perth broker compares 40+ lenders, Australia-wide.

A low doc car loan lets an established ABN holder finance a business vehicle without full business financials or tax returns: the lender relies on your ID and your own declaration of your business income, subject to its criteria. If low doc doesn't fit, lite doc (also called easy doc or mid doc) uses BAS or business bank statements instead of tax returns. Greenside Finance is a Perth-based broker comparing 40+ lenders for low doc and lite doc finance on cars, utes, vans, trucks and equipment, and we lend across Western Australia and Australia-wide.
| Option | How your income is shown | Who it usually suits |
|---|---|---|
| Low doc | Your ID and your own declaration of your business income. You don't need full business financials or tax returns. | Established ABN holders, usually with 2 years or more of ABN and GST, a good credit history, and property or a deposit. Subject to the lender's criteria. |
| Lite doc (easy doc or mid doc) | Recent BAS or business bank statements instead of tax returns | Businesses that don't meet low doc criteria, for example a newer ABN or GST registration, no property, or a larger amount |
| Full doc | Tax returns or accountant-prepared financials, usually two years | Businesses with up-to-date financials, very large amounts, or deals outside low doc and lite doc limits |
Lenders name these options differently. Tell us what you have and we'll match you to the right one.
Low doc is a business loan. The vehicle must be used mainly for business, and the lender relies on your declaration that you can repay, so it must be accurate. A mostly private car for a self-employed person is a consumer loan instead (we arrange those too), and some lenders will assess that on an accountant's letter rather than the latest tax return: see car loans.
| Requirement | What lenders usually want |
|---|---|
| ABN | Active, and 2 years or more for the widest low doc choice. Newer ABNs usually go to lite doc or start-up products, often with a deposit. |
| GST registration | 1 to 2 years for the top tiers. Not essential at some lenders for property owners or smaller loans. |
| Property or deposit | Owning a home (yours or a spouse's at some lenders) usually means no deposit. Without property, 10 to 20% deposit or a trade-in, or a similar loan paid on time. |
| Credit history | A good credit score and no recent financial defaults at the main low doc lenders. Specialist lenders go lower with a deposit. |
| Paperwork | ID and your declaration of income, and sometimes an assets and liabilities statement. No full business financials or tax returns. |
| Loan amount | From $10,000. Low doc commonly to $100,000 to $250,000, and to about $400,000 at a few lenders with property and a comparable loan paid on time. Lite doc goes to about $500,000 at some lenders. |
| Vehicle | Dealer, auction or private sale. Up to 15 to 25 years old at the end of the loan depending on the lender. |
It's the option between low doc and full doc. Instead of tax returns, the lender looks at your recent BAS or business bank statements to see the business's turnover and cash flow. Bank statements are often shared through a secure bank link rather than PDFs. Lite doc suits businesses that don't meet a lender's low doc criteria, such as a newer GST registration, no property, or a larger amount, and goes to about $500,000 at some lenders.
| ABN / GST age | What usually works |
|---|---|
| ABN under 12 months | A smaller group of start-up lenders, usually assessed on bank statements. Expect a deposit (often 20%) and proof of experience in the same trade. Limits are lower. |
| ABN 12 to 24 months | More lenders, mostly lite doc on BAS or bank statements, usually with property or a deposit. |
| ABN 2 years, GST 1 year | Several lenders offer their top tier and low doc without tax returns. |
| ABN and GST 3 years or more | The widest choice and the highest low doc limits, to about $400,000 at a few lenders, usually with property, a good credit history and a comparable loan paid on time. |
An older sole-trader ABN can often count when you move to a company. Property ownership, including a spouse's name at some lenders, is the biggest lever. Without property, expect to put in 10 to 20%.
| Low doc | Lite doc | Full doc | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Income evidence | Your declaration of income | BAS or business bank statements | Tax returns or financials |
| Best for | Established ABN, GST registered, property owners | Newer ABN or GST, non-owners, larger amounts | Up-to-date financials, very large amounts |
| Speed | Often quickest: many are decided the same day | Quick once statements are in | Slower: more documents to check |
Rates depend on the lender and your profile; low doc is often priced the same as full doc for established businesses. We check the options that fit you and show you the rate and fees before you sign.
Is low doc the same as no doc? No. Low doc still needs your ID and a declaration of your income, and the lender checks your credit file, your ABN history and the vehicle. It's lighter paperwork, not none.
Yes, some lenders fund older vehicles on low doc. Age is measured at the end of the loan, and limits vary from about 15 years to 25 years depending on the lender. A 10-year-old vehicle on a 5-year term is 15 years old at the end, which is inside many limits. Older vehicles mean fewer lenders, a deposit or property, and sometimes a shorter term or a higher rate. A few lenders have no age limit for classic or imported vehicles.
Illustrative scenario based on common enquiries, not a specific client.
A Perth landscaper operating as a company, ABN 4 years, GST-registered, whose tax return for the last year wasn't lodged yet, wanted a used 8-year-old truck for around $70,000. He owned his home and had a recent equipment loan paid on time. That profile fitted the lenders' low doc criteria, so he didn't need full financials or tax returns. The older asset meant fewer lenders, but his property and ABN age kept several in play.
Your ID and a declaration of your business income, and sometimes an assets and liabilities statement. You don't need full business financials or tax returns. If you don't meet a lender's low doc criteria, lite doc uses BAS or bank statements instead.
Yes, with some lenders. Age is measured at the end of the loan, and many lenders accept up to 15 to 25 years. Older vehicles usually mean fewer lenders, a deposit or property, and sometimes a shorter term.
The widest low doc choice starts at about 2 years of ABN and 1 year of GST registration, and a few lenders offer low doc from 12 months of ABN and 6 months of GST, usually with lower loan limits. Newer ABNs usually fit lite doc or start-up products, with a deposit and experience in the same trade, and limits are lower.
No. Low doc relies on your ID and your declaration of income, subject to the lender's criteria. BAS or bank statements are used for lite doc (also called easy doc or mid doc), which suits businesses that don't meet low doc criteria.

Not always. Property owners can often borrow with no deposit. Without property, most lenders want 10 to 20% as cash or trade-in.
Not necessarily. Rates depend on the lender and your profile; low doc is often priced the same as full doc for established businesses. We show you the rate, fees and total cost before you sign.
Yes. Low doc is available for utes, vans, trucks, trailers and equipment. See our ute finance, truck finance and equipment finance pages.
Straightforward low doc applications can be decided the same day, sometimes within hours; others take a day or two. To speed it up, have your ID, ABN details, rates notice and the vehicle details ready before you apply. Approval depends on the lender's assessment of your ABN age, credit file and the asset.
Often, yes. Many lenders can pre-approve you before you've chosen the vehicle, so you can negotiate with the dealer or private seller like a cash buyer. The approval is finalised once the invoice or sale details are in.
Usually, on newer vehicles. Typical maximums are 40 to 50% on a 2 to 3 year term and 30 to 35% on 5 years, with nothing beyond 5 years. A few lenders don't allow balloons on low doc at all, so tell us early if you want one.
Low doc isn't no doc. It replaces full financials and tax returns with your ID and a declaration of your income, and the lender still checks your credit file, ABN history and the vehicle. There's always some paperwork; it's just much lighter.
Two quick steps. No impact on your credit score to get a quote.
