Motorbike loans with Greenside Finance, Perth

What is a motorbike loan?

A motorbike loan finances a new or used road bike, cruiser, dirt bike or scooter, usually as a secured loan with the bike as security. Greenside Finance are Perth-based finance brokers comparing 40+ lenders for motorbike loans, and we lend across Western Australia and Australia-wide.

Who do we help with motorbike loans?

  • Commuters, weekend riders and tourers buying a road bike, cruiser or scooter.
  • Riders buying a dirt bike, quad or other off-road bike for recreation.
  • First-time borrowers, since some lenders are open to smaller loans for first-time borrowers.
  • Buyers from a dealer or a private seller, with a good credit history or without one.
  • Other toys: boat loans and caravan loans. Buying a car instead? See used car loans.

Riding mainly for work, such as courier or delivery work on an ABN? That can be set up as business finance instead, and we arrange that too: see business funding.

What lenders look at

FactorWhat it means for you
Bike age and typeNewer bikes have more lenders. Older bikes have fewer, and some lenders won't fund grey imports or certain types.
DepositSome lenders finance the full price for a good credit history. Others want a deposit, especially for older bikes.
Credit historyA good credit history opens the whole panel. Defaults and many recent enquiries narrow it.
IncomeLenders check that the repayments fit alongside your living costs. Employment and self-employed income are both assessed.
SellerDealer sales are accepted widely. Private sales are accepted by some lenders, with a PPSR check.

Documents checklist

  • Driver's licence, showing your motorcycle licence
  • Recent payslips, or BAS and bank statements if self-employed
  • Recent bank statements showing your income
  • A list of your assets and debts
  • The dealer's quote or invoice, or the listing for a private sale: make, model, year, VIN and price
  • Proof of address, if the lender asks

How it works with Greenside

  1. Tell us about the bike. The price, new or used, dealer or private, and a few details about your income. A two-minute quote request or a call.
  2. We compare lenders. A Perth broker checks the 40+ lender panel for lenders that fund your type of bike, and explains the term, fees and rate on offer.
  3. We check it suits you. We look at your budget, including insurance and gear.
  4. You choose, we apply. You sign electronically and the lender pays the seller. Then you collect the bike.

Example

Illustrative scenario based on common enquiries, not a specific client. Amounts are examples only. A Perth rider wanted a two-year-old adventure bike for around $20,000 from a dealer. With steady PAYG income and a good credit history, most of the panel could consider the loan. We compared a three-year and a five-year term so he could weigh the higher repayment against the lower total interest.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a motorbike loan with no deposit?

Sometimes. Some lenders finance the full price for borrowers with a good credit history. Others want a deposit, especially for older bikes. We check what applies to you.

Can I finance a second-hand or private-sale bike?

Yes, with many lenders. A private sale needs a PPSR check. See how private sale finance works.

Can I finance a dirt bike, quad or scooter?

Often yes, though a smaller group of lenders fund off-road bikes and quads. Tell us the make, model and year.

Can I get a motorbike loan with bad credit?

Sometimes. Past defaults narrow the lenders and usually raise the rate, and a deposit may be needed. We'll tell you plainly what's realistic.

What's the smallest motorbike loan I can get?

It varies by lender. Some will lend smaller amounts, and others have a higher minimum. Tell us the price and we'll find a lender that fits.

Can I finance a grey import or an older bike?

Some lenders don't fund grey imports, but others will, case by case. Age limits apply at the end of the term. Send us the details and we'll check.

How long does approval take?

Some lenders decide within hours, and others take a day or two. We can't promise an outcome, but we'll tell you what's needed to avoid delays.

Can I include gear, accessories or insurance?

Accessories bought with the bike and itemised on the invoice can often be included, within the lender's limits. You'll need the bike insured at settlement.
