Personal loans for travel, a wedding, medical bills, home repairs or combining debts. A Perth broker compares 40+ lenders for you, Australia-wide.

A personal loan is money you borrow, usually for something other than a vehicle, repaid in set instalments over a fixed term: a wedding, travel, medical or dental bills, home improvements or combining debts. Greenside Finance are Perth-based finance brokers comparing 40+ lenders for personal loans, and we lend across Western Australia and Australia-wide. Most of our work is car, ute and equipment finance, so if a vehicle is involved, a secured car loan is usually the cheaper route.
Not for you if you'd be borrowing to cover a gap you can't repay from your income. We assess suitability, and we won't recommend a loan that would cause hardship.
| Factor | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Income and employment | Lenders check that your income covers the repayments after living costs. Some accept new or casual workers sooner than others. |
| Credit history | A good credit history gets the widest choice and lower rates. Defaults, recent enquiries and recent borrowing narrow it. |
| Existing debts | Credit cards, buy-now-pay-later and other loans reduce what you can borrow. |
| Secured or unsecured | A loan secured against a car or other asset usually costs less. Unsecured loans are simpler but often cost more. |
| Purpose and amount | Lenders ask what the money is for. Amounts and terms vary by lender. |
Yes. A debt consolidation loan is a personal loan that pays out credit cards, personal loans and buy-now-pay-later balances, leaving one repayment. It only makes sense if it leaves you better off, so we compare what you pay now with the new loan's total cost, fees and term first. A longer term can lower the repayment but cost more interest overall.
It doesn't suit you if you're already behind on repayments, if the new loan costs more than your current debts, or if the debts would build up again. We don't arrange home loans, so we don't suggest refinancing a mortgage to clear debts. If you're struggling to pay, call the free National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 before you borrow more.
Illustrative scenario based on common enquiries, not a specific client. Amounts are examples only. A Perth couple needed around $15,000 for urgent home repairs. They had a good credit history and stable incomes, and a lender with no monthly fee suited them best. A longer term lowered the repayment, but we showed them the extra interest it would add, and they chose a middle term.
It depends on your income, expenses, credit history and the lender. Amounts typically range from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands. We'll tell you what's realistic once we know your situation.
Sometimes. Defaults narrow the choices and the rate is usually higher, but some lenders will still consider you. We'll tell you plainly what's realistic, and whether waiting or fixing something first would help.
Some lenders decide within hours and pay out within a day or two once documents are complete. Others take longer. We can't guarantee timing or approval.
No. Getting a quote won’t affect your credit score. A credit enquiry is only listed if you decide to go ahead with an application.
Secured loans, such as a car loan, usually cost less because the lender holds security. Unsecured loans are simpler and don't put an asset at risk. We compare both.
Photo ID, recent payslips (or BAS and bank statements if you're self-employed), recent bank statements and details of your debts. See the checklist above.
Only if the new loan has a lower rate or lower total cost than your current debts, and you don't run the old debts up again. We compare the numbers first and tell you if it won't help.
Yes. Lenders ask what the money is for, and weddings, travel, medical and dental bills and home improvements are all common purposes. The same checks apply: income, existing debts and credit history.
Often yes, but some lenders charge a fee. Ask before you sign. We check the early repayment terms for each option we show you.
You can, but a secured car loan usually costs less. See used car loans. We compare both options.
Two quick steps. No impact on your credit score to get a quote.
