Who are we?

Greenside Finance is a Perth-based finance brokerage at Unit 5/531 Hay St, Subiaco WA 6008. We arrange truck finance for owner-drivers, transport and civil businesses, FIFO and mining contractors, and farm operators across Western Australia, from Perth to the Pilbara, Goldfields, Wheatbelt and South West, and we lend Australia-wide. You deal with a named broker: Tom Dihm, James Brynjulfsen or Reolan Naidoo, by phone, email or in person at the office.

Our Google rating is Excellent from 82 reviews (as at October 2026). Read them yourself before you choose any broker, ours included.

Which truck finance broker should you use in Western Australia?

The best broker for you is one who knows how lenders treat trucks and your kind of work, will compare many of them, and puts the options in writing. Ask every broker, us included, these questions:

  • Are you licensed? Ask whether they hold, or work under, an Australian Credit Licence. You can check the ASIC register. Ours: Greenside Finance Pty Ltd is an Authorised Credit Representative (#561052) of Fintelligence Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence #511803.
  • How many lenders do you compare? Ours is 40+. Truck lenders differ a lot on prime movers, truck age, new ABNs and property, so ask which ones suit your situation and why.
  • Do you understand my work? A contract with a prime contractor, a roster on a mine site or a seasonal harvest run should shape the application. Ask how they will present yours.
  • How are you paid, and what will I be charged? We explain this before you go ahead.
  • Will I see the options in writing? You should get the repayment, the term, any balloon and the fees for each option, not just one number.
  • Who will I deal with, and will they still be there after settlement? A named broker, before and after.
  • What do the reviews say? Look at the count and the recent ones, not only the star rating.

What trucks can we finance?

  • Prime movers, new or used, single trailer, B-double or road train setups.
  • Rigid trucks: flat tops, curtainsiders, tilt trays, crane trucks, tippers and side tippers.
  • Light trucks up to 4.5 t GVM, which can be driven on a car licence.
  • Refrigerated and specialist trucks, including fridge vans, car carriers and agitators.
  • Trailers: dollies, low loaders, side tippers and semi trailers, on the same loan as the truck where the lender allows.
  • New, used, auction and private sale. The lender pays the seller, including for interstate purchases.

Who does a truck finance broker suit?

  • Owner-drivers buying their first truck, or subcontracting to a prime contractor on Perth metro, regional or Perth to Pilbara runs.
  • New operators with a heavy rigid (HR) or heavy combination (HC) licence history but a short ABN history. Lenders weigh experience and a work letter, and a broker knows which ones do.
  • Small fleets adding or replacing units, including several trucks and trailers under one approval.
  • FIFO and mining contractors running trucks in the Pilbara and Goldfields, where contract gaps and wet-season slowdowns show in bank statements.
  • Civil, earthmoving and trade businesses adding a tipper, tilt tray or crane truck.
  • Farm and Wheatbelt operators buying trucks for harvest and cartage.

What documents do you need for truck finance?

OptionWhat it needs
Low docID and your self-declared income. No full financials or tax returns needed. Lenders choose which low doc loans they offer, usually to established operators.
Lite doc (easy doc or mid doc)Recent BAS or business bank statements instead of tax returns. Its own option, for operators who prefer it or whose ABN is newer.
Full docTax returns or financials and notices of assessment. Often used for prime movers, larger amounts and multi-truck deals.

Whichever you use, also have your driver's licence, ABN and GST details, the dealer invoice, auction docket or private sale details, and a contract or work letter if you subcontract. See low doc loans for more.

What do lenders look at on a truck?

FactorWhat it means for you
ABN and GST ageRigids and light trucks: some lenders from a new ABN, more from 12 months, the widest choice around 2 years. Prime movers: lenders usually want several years of ABN and GST.
Industry experienceYears driving or operating, plus a contract or work letter, carry real weight for new owner-drivers.
Previous truck financeA paid or current loan on a similar truck can open up prime mover lenders.
PropertyOwning property is the biggest lever. Some lenders won't fund transport operators without it.
DepositWithout property, expect 10 to 20% deposit or trade-in at many lenders.
Truck ageMany lenders fund trucks up to around 15 to 20 years old at the end of the loan, and a few go to 25. Older units may need an inspection or a shorter term.
Credit historyA good credit history opens the panel. Past defaults narrow the choice of lenders, but they don't rule you out.

What is different about truck finance in Western Australia?

  • Main Roads WA, not the national regulator. Western Australia isn't under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, so accreditation and permits run through Main Roads WA. Lenders funding a road train or restricted-access setup may ask about it.
  • Buying in the eastern states. Plenty of WA trucks are bought interstate. The lender pays the seller wherever they are. Allow for transport and the inspection needed to register an interstate vehicle in WA.
  • Seasonal and remote work. Wet-season slowdowns in the Pilbara and Kimberley, harvest peaks in the Wheatbelt and contract gaps show in your statements. Explaining them up front avoids questions later.
  • Distance. Everything is done by phone, email and electronic signing, so you can sign from the cab, the yard or the mine site.

How it works

  1. Tell us the truck. Make, age, price, seller (dealer, auction, private or interstate) and your ABN details. Use the two-step quote form below or call 1800 147 336. It has no impact on your credit score.
  2. We talk it through. A broker calls to check your work, your experience and what you plan to buy.
  3. We compare lenders. We match you to lenders whose policies suit you and explain the options: chattel mortgage or lease, term, balloon and break costs.
  4. You choose and we submit. You pick an option, send your documents and we lodge the application. Some lenders decide within hours and many straightforward applications are decided in a day or two. It depends on the lender and your paperwork, and approval is always subject to lender criteria.
  5. The lender pays the seller. For private and interstate sales we run the PPSR check and arrange payout of any finance owing first.

What does a truck finance broker cost?

A quote and a conversation cost nothing. The lender usually pays us a commission when a loan settles, and we explain any fees before you go ahead. We don't quote rates on this page because they depend on you, the truck and the lender.

Do you only help in Perth?

No. We are based in Subiaco, Perth, and we arrange truck finance across Western Australia and Australia-wide. You are welcome at the office if you'd rather meet.

Frequently asked questions

Which truck finance broker should I use in Western Australia?

Choose a broker who is licensed, compares many lenders, understands how your type of work is assessed and gives you the options in writing. Greenside Finance is a Perth-based broker comparing 40+ lenders, with a named broker from first call to settlement. Check the licence, ask the questions above, and read the reviews of any broker you consider.

What does it cost to use Greenside Finance?

Getting a quote is free. If your loan goes ahead, the lender usually pays us a commission, and we may also charge a brokerage (origination) fee. Any fee is only charged if your loan settles. It is added to your loan amount, so it forms part of your repayments, and it is never paid upfront. We'll explain any fees before you go ahead. Our credit guide explains how our fees and commissions work.

Do I pay a brokerage fee upfront?

No. Our brokerage fee is never paid upfront. If a fee applies, it is added to your loan and shown in your quote before you sign.

Can I finance my first prime mover as a new owner-driver?

It's harder than a rigid or tipper. Prime mover lenders usually want several years of ABN and GST, property backing and a previous truck loan. New owner-drivers often start with a rigid, or bring a larger deposit. A work letter and heavy licence history help.

How many lenders do you compare for truck finance?

40+ lenders, including specialist commercial and heavy vehicle lenders. Which ones are relevant depends on the truck, your ABN history, property and credit history.

Can I get truck finance on a low doc or lite doc basis?

Often, yes. Low doc needs ID and your self-declared income, with no full financials or tax returns, and lenders choose which low doc loans they offer. If you can supply BAS or business bank statements, that opens a lite doc option as well. See low doc loans.

Can I finance a truck bought interstate, at auction or privately?

Yes. The lender pays the seller in any state. We run a PPSR check first, and you'll need an inspection to register an interstate truck in WA. For auctions, get pre-approved before the day so you know your limit.

How old can the truck be?

Many lenders fund trucks up to around 15 to 20 years old at the end of the loan, and a few go to 25. Older trucks may need an inspection, a shorter term or a specialist lender.

Can the trailer go on the same loan?

Often, yes, if bought together. Some lenders also offer facilities that cover several trucks and trailers.

Will asking for a quote affect my credit score?

No. Getting a quote has no impact on your credit score. A credit enquiry is only listed on your file if you go ahead with a formal application, and we tell you before that happens.

How fast can I get truck finance?

It depends on the lender and how quickly we have your documents. Some lenders decide within hours and many straightforward applications are decided in a day or two. We can't promise an approval or a timeframe.
